Scholarship

My research is intersectional by nature. I explore social media, ecomedia, game design and environmental issues, identity and representation in media, object-oriented ontologies (OOO) and ethics, and practices of game design.

My work also concerns high impact pedagogies such as gameful, collaborative, and project-based learning. I teach game design, interactive media, ecomedia, and inclusive design practices.

Game Review

The Megamycete at the End of the World: Resident Evil: Village and Gothic Ecophobia,” Gothic Nature, Issue IV, p.240-243

I am the co-founder and lead editor of a journal that publishes scholarly games along with essays framing the theories underpinning their design as well as the design process.

Game studies has heretofore focused on critical analysis of video games, which is important, but OneShot intends to go a step further, supporting, promoting, and providing peer-review for scholar-designed games and emphasizing documentation of the game design process.
